Animal Antics
Ages 7 to 12
Through a series of role-playing activities, children will discover what it is like to be a wild animal in the forest trying to survive.
Depending on the ages of the children, we will explore animal adaptations, communication, prey-predator relationships and survival strategies.
The program may be conducted in a school yard, park or even a gymnasium if the weather is not co-operative.
The children will have so much fun, they won't realize how much they are learning.
Go Wild In The City
Ages 6 to 12
Fox Tail, Wild Barley
Take a nature walk in a city park with the Urban Naturalist as your guide.
These walks are developed around easy to understand nature themes such as conservation, plant and animal adaptations and seasonal changes and include activities appropriate to the age level of the children.
Walks may be conducted in any suitable Winnipeg park or green space.
Plants & Plant Lore
Ages 9 to 14
Discover how native people and settlers utilized our plants for food and medicine.
Dames Rockets
As people from many lands came to Canada, they not only learned from the natives; they brought their own food and medicinal plants with them. Some of these escaped cultivation and went wild in our fields and forests.
Today, just as Canada has people from many lands, we also have plants from around the world.
Our activity includes a slide show inside (optional) and an outing in a park, school yard or ravine, to discover and learn about some of our important wild plants.
Artifact Detective
Ages 8 to 12
Discover how archaeologists solve ancient mysteries by investigating objects used by humans long ago.
Learn the difference between an artifact and a fossil. Work as teams to look for clues about the past and investigate your own finds just like real archaeologists.
This program may be conducted inside or outside depending upon the weather or time of year.
Prices
$50.00 per class (maximum size 35) for 1 1/2 to 2 hour session.
Discounts for multiple or block bookings.
